Today's Inspiration and Quote

EVER WONDER .... Why

the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why

can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why

don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why

is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why

is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons? Why

is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why

isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why

didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

Quote of the day:
"It's better to walk alone with a crowd going in the wrong direction"... - Diane Grant

Guests

Kim Keahiolalo with her guests: Brooke Redmond (center) & Charles Fusano (right)
Randy Hart from Friday Club of Rotary
Karl Gutknee visiting from Wisconsin

Guest Speaker: Chris Okano

Chris Okano became a member of Rotary Club of Hilo Bay this past year. He shared about his upbringings and how he came back to the town where everything started from his great grandparents in 1895 till now. His grandpa, being a traditional Japanese, a very diligent and hard-working man moved to Oahu and began his electrical engineering company. Chris was raised to be very independent from an early age, and was heavily involved in sports. He was born and raised in Honolulu where he eventually graduated from Punahou to attend University in Villanova University in Philadelphia with a scholarship for football. Right after grad school, he got into IBM where he realized after, he did not want to pursue a career in the East Coast. He later moved to Silicon Valley in California where he worked until he stepped up to take care of his family business and to manage his grandfathers estates. His goal is to expand his business and eventually buy all of the family assets and maintain them as a single family.
