Guest Speaker: Marcia Masters

Marcia Masters spoke to our club about the Zimbabwe Project Society, a British Columbia, Canada based charitable organization whose mission is “To assist children and families in Zimbabwe by creating opportunities for education, health care and employment through the development of sustainable business and community development.”

Zimbabwe has suffered from economic collapse and hyperinflation as the result of an authoritarian and corrupt regime, though the country has substantial natural resources and was once an exporter of agricultural food products, now the country is a net importer of the same.

Marcia currently lives in Naalehu and previously operated Curves in Kealakekua where she met Angela Yablonski, the founder of the Zimbabwe Project Society and operator of a Curves in British Columbia.

The organization raises funds year-round and has received financial support from its local Rotary Club (Vernon Rotary Club).  There is an annual trip to Zimbabwe to complete various projects relating to clean water, building and refurbishing libraries and classrooms or similar activities.  The intent is to create a sustainable benefit to local community that will meaningfully change lives.

For more information on this organization, please go to their website or contact Angela Yablonski:
